New Wing Lee
About This Spot
New Wing Lee feels like a familiar corner of your neighborhood where the hum of daily life meets the comforting aroma of home-cooked flavors. Nestled along Woodnook Road in Appley Bridge, this takeaway spot carries the easygoing rhythm of a place where locals gather, not just for a quick bite, but for a taste that feels time-tested and true.
Stepping inside, the pace is steady yet unhurried, and there’s a warmth that comes from both the staff’s friendly efficiency and the steady stream of regulars. The space invites you to pause for a moment—whether you’re ringing in your order or collecting it fresh from the counter, there’s a sense of shared anticipation among patrons who’ve found something reliable here.
While New Wing Lee wears the casual charm of a classic Chinese takeaway, it carries subtle nuances in how the dishes arrive—generous, thoughtfully packed, and focused on straightforward satisfaction without pretense. The familiar sizzle of spare ribs or the warm promise of king prawns quietly hints at a menu built for comfort and consistency, a dependable culinary companion in the neighborhood’s everyday rhythm.
Ultimately, this is a place where the experience is less about elaborate presentation and more about the familiar moments that come with waiting patiently as your meal is prepared, catching a smile from the counter staff, and knowing you’ll leave with food that carries a quiet kind of joy—satisfying, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in local routine.

We love this chinese chippy been going for years now. The food is really good. I recommend you ring your order through then collect as the only negative things is they don't deliver

Well, another pos/neg review. The spare ribs starters are fantastic a taste great - they're also a reasonable price. C-pic In the other hand - the Singapour Chow Mein - is small in portion (the same as a regular dish - rather than larger; as it's supposed to be a meal in itself. Other outlets provide almost twice the portion for the same price. Secondly, the noodles are cut into small lengths rather than being left alone as long noodles (KungFu Panda's Dad would die seeing them). They also do taste that nice having - it's like the spice and noodles are in an emulsion~ an oil water mix. There was also no spice (heat) to the dish and an excess of veg. Esp carrot. The price to portion ratio for this latter dish is expense.
